Tree Planting initiative in Semonyan Park took place on April 6

On April 6, the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia together with the Armenia Tree Project Foundation and Armenian State Pedagogical University organized and implemented a Tree Planting initiative in Semonyan Park in Sasunik village, Aragatsotn region. The aim of the tree planting initiative was to raise awareness about environmental issues within the framework of Erasmus+ priority, Green Deal.

The tree planting initiative gathered around 30 students from the Armenian State Pedagogical University, majority of which were representatives of the student council. In the second part of the day, participants visited the nurseries of Karin that belong to the Foundation, where Samvel Ghandilyan, Head of the nursery, presented the history of the establishment of the nurseries. He noted that the nurseries have been operating since 1994 and so far, about 8 million trees have been planted across Armenia. After the visit to the nursery, participants went to the training center of Armenia Tree Project Foundation. Isabel Shatoyan, Environmental Education Program Manager, presented the projects, structure and existing opportunities implemented by the center. Then, the Senior Trainer of the Foundation, Nvard Gevorgyan, held a quiz-discussion on environmental topics with the participants. At the end of the meeting, the Foundation and representatives of the Armenian State Pedagogical University reached an agreement to cooperate. In the near future, the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia plans to implement similar initiatives again.

We would like to express special thanks to Satenik Beglaryan, PR Representative of the “Armenia Tree Project” Foundation, for organizing and implementing the initiative.
