We present to you the newsletter summarizing the activities of the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia and its partners covering the first half of 2024, where you can learn about the events and initiatives held within the framework of the Erasmus+ program in Armenia. 

Our goal is to inform you about the capacity development of HEIs and VET institutions, international credit mobility programs, our information campaigns, as well as joint events and meetings implemented with partners.

"Capacity Building in Higher Education" Action
The project ''Establishment of National Framework of Key Performance Indicators for good governance and quality towards inclusive, digital and green-oriented higher education in Armenia'' (KPI4HE) project was launched on January 30 at Yerevan State University.

On February 26, the kick-off meeting of the “Development of Soft Skills at Higher Education Institutions of Armenia and Georgia in Compliance with the 21st Century Labour Market Requirements” (DeSIRe) project coordinated by Vanadzor State University, was organized.

"Capacity Building in VET" Action
On January 15, the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia initiated an online meeting among VET institutions from Armenia and Sustainability InnoCenter, an organization based in Uppsala, Sweden.

On February 13, the representatives of the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia and Medical College named after Pharmacist-Artist Levon Sargsyan went on a study visit to Gyumri to get acquainted with the activities of Gyumri Craftsman College N4, conduct an info session on Erasmus+ “Capacity building in Vocational Education and Training” Key Action and participate in the interim presentation of the Technasium project organized by Alvan Tsaghik social-educational center.

"Virtual Exchanges in Higher Education and Youth" Action
On March 6, the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia held an online information session dedicated to the Erasmus+ “Virtual Exchanges in Higher Education and Youth” action, the purpose of which was to present the procedure for applying to the action, conditions, possible scopes of cooperation and successful projects already funded with the participation of Armenia.

Jean Monnet Actions
On January 22, the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia held an online consultation meeting intended for those who are currently developing a project within the framework of one of the Erasmus+ Jean Monnet actions and need support and advice in that process.

12 Erasmus+ funded projects were presented to the academic community
On June 20, “Erasmus+ National Kick-off Day 2024” event took place at the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports. The purpose of the event was to present the main goals, and expected results of the projects implemented by Armenian higher education and VET institutions that received funding as a result of the Erasmus+ Call 2023, hold discussions aimed at the implementation of these projects and identify the challenges of the field and solutions. The event hosted more than 150 representatives from higher and vocational education institutions, education policymakers, civil society and business representatives and other interested parties.

Erasmus Mundus Pre-Departure Orientation Meeting 2024 at EU Delegation to Armenia
On the 27th of June, a Pre-Departure Orientation (PDO) Meeting was organized by the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia and the Delegation of the European Union to Armenia for new Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters scholarship winners from Armenia.

Thanks to the funding of the European Union, 7 individuals will receive master’s education in Portugal, Spain, Germany, Great Britain, Serbia, Greece, Italy, Malta and other countries in frames of Erasmus Mundus Joint Master’s programs.

Erasmus+ in expos and educational fairs
On April 16, representatives of the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia and Erasmus+ Youth & European Solidarity Corps Information Center in Armenia held an information session on the opportunities provided by the Erasmus+ program at the Innovation Knowledge Hub Tavush near YSU Ijevan branch. The info session hosted 37 young people from Tavush region.

On May 24, the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia participated in Sunchild International Environmental Festival. At the “Youth Corner” of the festival, NEO Armenia representatives introduced the opportunities of the Erasmus+ programme to the youth, professors, civil society representatives, environmental enthusiasts, etc.

On May 16, the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia participated in “BanUGorts. YSU Expo-2024” organised by the Yerevan State University. During the expo, the employees and volunteers of the Office presented the opportunities of the Erasmus+ program to the interested parties and answered their questions.

Erasmus+ priorities. Green education
On April 6, the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia together with the Armenia Tree Project Foundation and Armenian State Pedagogical University organized and implemented a Tree Planting initiative in Semonyan Park in Sasunik village, Aragatsotn region. 

The aim of the tree planting initiative was to raise awareness about environmental issues within the framework of Erasmus+ priority, Green Deal.

New collaborations in the frames of Erasmus+
The National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia continues the establishment of new cooperations. During the first term of the 2024, online meetings with Erasmus+ National Agencies of Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Poland and Sweden were held to discuss new cooperation ideas.

On April 11, Yerevan State University hosted a contact seminar between Armenian and Lithuanian higher education institutions (HEIs) to set up cooperation opportunities between those HEIs in the frames of the Erasmus+ program and beyond.

On May 8, representatives of the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia participated in the webinar on the involvement of NEOs in TCAs (Training and Cooperation Activities) organized by TCA Resource Centre of SALTO Education and Training.
During the webinar, TCA Resource Centre representatives introduced the goals and implementation formats of those activities, criteria for selecting participants, as well as cooperation possibilities with Erasmus+ National Agencies

On March 11-12, “A Framework for Effective Microcredential Design: Best Practices and Guidelines for Developing High-Quality Credentials” HERE regional seminar took place. The seminar was organised by the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia in cooperation with Arevik Ohanyan, Higher Education Reform Expert (HERE), Strategic Project Manager of Eurasia International University, and the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine within the framework of Erasmus+ technical assistance missions.

Erasmus+ Technical Assistance Mission (TAM) N2
On April 25-26, HERE regional seminar titled “Developing and Implementing Joint Master’s Degree Programmes: Current Challenges and Prospectives” was held at Yerevan State University. The seminar was organised by the National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia in cooperation with Kristine Gevorgyan, Higher Education Reform Expert (HERE), YSU Center for European Studies, Coordinator of master’s programs, and the National Erasmus+ Office in Ukraine within the framework of Erasmus+ technical assistance missions.

On June 6-7, the Armenian National Agrarian University hosted the “Management and Organizational Infrastructures of Universities as a Basis of Quality Education” workshop aimed at education policymakers and representatives of administrative (especially management) staff of universities. The workshop was organized by Garegin Hambardzumyan (Head of the International Relations Department of the Armenian National Agrarian University, HERE) in the frames of Erasmus+ technical assistance missions.

STUDY VISITS AND RESEARCH PRESENTATION
On March 25 and 27, representatives of National Erasmus+ Office in Armenia and Higher Education Reform Expert Garegin Hambardzumyan participated in “Institutional Approaches and Strategies for Greening” virtual study visit hosted by University College Cork, Ireland and SPHERE (Centralized Support to the Network of Higher Education Reform Experts).

On May 13-14, the coordinator of the NEO Armenia, Lana Karlova, and the Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Languages of the Armenian State Pedagogical University, Associate Professor, HERE, Tigran Miqayelyan, participated in the “Universities’ third mission: Partnering for social and economic development” international seminar held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The seminar was organized by the SPHERE and the NEO Uzbekistan, and was hosted by the “Silk Road” International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage.
